Tuna Does Vegas Begins Ft. Worth Run March 25

By Adam Hetrick
25 Mar 2008

The infamous characters of Tuna, TX begin their latest romp, Tuna Does Vegas, at Ft. Worth's Bass Performance Hall March 25.

As previously reported by Playbill.com, the fourth installment in the Tuna series (the first in ten years) features Williams and Sears performing a host of favorite characters from the Tuna repertoire. The Ft. Worth engagement, presented by Casa Mañana from March 25-30, kicks off a 21-city national tour.

"Arles and Bertha plan to renew their wedding vows, Inita and Helen from the Tastee Kreme take a spin as showgirls, Joe Bob goes on the Rush Limbaugh diet, and Vera and Pearl battle over the slot machines," according to Tuna Does Vegas press notes. "You'll bust out laughing when Leonard's wife accidentally stuffs a $20 bill into a male dancer's underwear and goes back for change. What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas!"

The production includes scenic design by Christopher McCollum, costume design by Linda Fisher, lighting design by David Nancarrow and sound design by Ken Huncovsky.

Penned by Williams, Sears and director Ed Howard, Tuna Does Vegas will tour to San Francisco, CA (June 17-28, at the Curran Theatre); Galveston, TX (Aug. 5-24, at the Grand 1894 Opera House); Corpus Christi, TX (Sept. 16-17, at Bayfront); Orange, TX (Sept. 19-21, at the Lutcher Theatre); College Station, TX (Sept. 23-24, at the Rudder Theater Complex); El Paso, TX (Sept. 26-28, at the Chavez Theatre); Ft. Worth, TX (Oct. 21-26, at Bass Performance Hall); Oklahoma City, OK (Nov. 3-9, at the Rose State Theatre); San Antonio, TX (Nov. 11-16, at the Majestic Theatre); Austin, TX (Nov. 18-30, at the Paramount Theatre); and Nashville, TN (Dec. 2-7, at the James K. Polk Theatre).

Tour dates for 2009 include Seattle, WA (March 31-April 5, at the Moore Theatre); Portland, WA (April 7-12, at the Newmark Theatre); La Mirada, CA (April 17-May 3, at La Mirada Theatre); San Diego, CA (May 5-10, at the Balboa Theatre); Tuscon, AZ (May 12-17, at the Music Hall); and Cleveland, OH (June 10-28, at the Cleveland Playhouse).

Williams, Sears and Howard have also collaborated on Greater Tuna, A Tuna Christmas and Red, White and Tuna. A Tuna Christmas landed on Broadway for a limited holiday run in 1994, earning Joe Sears a Best Actor in a Play nomination.

Tickets for Tuna Does Vegas are available by calling (817) 332-2272 or by visiting www.casamanana.org.

Tuna Does Vegas will perform at the Bass Performance Hall, located at 525 Commerce Street in Fort Worth, TX.
