Good reviews and positive word of mouth have created two sold-out weekends in a row for Yale Repertory Theatre's new production of Oscar Wilde's soap-operatic comedy, A Woman of No Importance, which began March 21 in New Haven, CT.

The James Bundy-directed staging opened March 27. Performances continue to April 12. Bundy is dean of Yale School of Drama and artistic director of Yale Rep.

Performances April 4-5 are sold out, as were shows March 28-29. Sales for the final weekend are looking solid, too, a spokesman told Playbill.com. The 1893 title is lesser-known than Wilde's signature play, The Importance of Being Earnest.

(To inquire about cancellations and last-minute availability, call the box office at (203) 432-1234.)

A Woman of No Importance has turned out to be the biggest box office hit of Yale Rep's season so far. It has out-sold everything else — including Richard II with Jeffrey Carlson (directed by Evan Yionoulis), which was popular at the beginning of the season, and the world premiere of David Adjmi's The Evildoers in February.

The Woman company features René Augesen, Judith-Marie Bergan, Will Connolly, John Patrick Doherty, Kate Forbes (as the title lady), Geordie Johnson, Felicity Jones, Patricia Kilgarriff, John Little, Anthony Newfield, Bryce Pinkham, Terence Rigby, Michael Rudko, Erica Sullivan and Liz Wisan.

Wilde's 1893 play begins as "Lords and ladies gather for afternoon tea and brilliant banter at an idyllic English country estate," according to Yale Rep. "For young Gerald Arbuthnot and his mother, the assembled not-so-polite company holds the keys to happiness in love and life. In this comedy of serial seducers, moralizing monogamists, secret pasts and simmering heartbreak, how will the Arbuthnots choose between social advancement and painful truths spoken from the heart?"

The creative team includes Lauren Rockman (scenic design), Anya Klepikov (costume design), Ola Bråten (lighting design), Jana Hoglund (sound design), Amy Boratko and Jennifer Shaw (dramaturgy), Stephen Gabis (dialect coach) and Sarah Hodges (stage management).

Tickets for Yale Rep productions are available by calling (203) 432-1234 or online at yalerep.org.

Yale Repertory Theatre is located at 1120 Chapel Street in New Haven, CT.
