Creation Nation Plays Zipper Factory April 8, with Cynthia Nixon Guesting

By Kenneth Jones
08 Apr 2008

The latest Creation Nation variety show surfaces April 8 at the Zipper Factory Theater in New York City — the first Manhattan appearance by the comic troupers in almost a year.

Creation Nation: Horton Hears a Hussein is hosted by Billy Willing and Robin Lord (as played by creators Billy Eichner and Robin Taylor, respectively), who will welcome Tony and Emmy Award-winning stage, screen and television actress Cynthia Nixon ("Sex and the City," Rabbit Hole) to their unique and critically acclaimed variety show. The performance is at 8 PM.

Billed as a live talk show, Creation Nation is "a unique comedy event — a variety show with comedy sketches, stand-up, original musical numbers, filmed segments and live interviews with celebrity guests."

Eichner and Taylor's characters recently made their West Coast debut with four sold-out Creation Nation shows in Los Angeles, and also performed in Miami as part of Comedy Central's South Beach Comedy Festival in January 2008.

Creation Nation is written by Billy Eichner and directed by Benjamin Salka, and features musical director Eli Bolin at the keyboard, Lee Overtree on drums and Lucas Papaelias on guitar. Choreography is by Jennifer Loryn. Production design is by Richard Dibella.

Tickets to Creation Nation are $20 and are available by calling (212) 352-3101 or online at www.thezipperfactory.com.

For in-person purchases, the Zipper box office opens one hour prior to all scheduled events. The Zipper is located at 336 West 37th Street in Manhattan.
