| photo by Aubrey Reuben | Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall is the focus of George Stevens, Jr.'s solo play Thurgood, which stars Laurence Fishburne.
Leonard Foglia directs the solo show presented by Ostar Productions in association with Westport Country Playhouse. Previews will begin at the Booth Theatre April 12.
Thurgood "is the remarkable and triumphant story of Thurgood Marshall, who rose from a childhood in the backstreets of Baltimore to the Supreme Court of the United States," according to production notes. "Along the way, Mr. Marshall overcame many adversities but through them all, remained focused and positive to maintain the great country he wanted to serve. And did. Thurgood brings to the stage the words, the wit, the tenacity and the wisdom of one of America's greatest heroes."
The production held a meet-and-greet at New 42nd St. Studios. Here are pictures from the event:
