Douglas Carter Beane's Mr. & Mrs. Fitch, Gina Gionfriddo's Becky Shaw and a 20th anniversary production of Howard Korder's Boys' Life will be part of Second Stage Theatre's upcoming season.

The Off-Broadway company announced three of the four titles that will be seen at the midtown Manhattan venue during its 30th anniversary season. Casting and exact dates will be announced at a later time.

Launching the 2008-2009 season will be a new staging of the Korder (Search and Destroy, Sea of Tranquility) drama Boys' Life 20 years after its world premiere. According to the announcement, the play is "a stinging and candid look at three college buddies making their way in the big city. As they maneuver between life and sex in New York, Korder lacerates the prolonged adolescence that often takes the place of modern manhood." Previews are slated to begin in mid-September toward a mid-October opening.

Gionfriddo (After Ashley, U.S. Drag) will see her Humana Festival hit Becky Shaw make its New York premiere under the direction of Peter DuBois (Jack Goes Boating, Measure for Pleasure). In the play, "a newlywed couple fixes up two romantically challenged friends: wife's best friend, meets husband's sexy and strange new co-worker," as show notes reveal. "When an evening calculated to bring happiness takes a dark turn, crisis and comedy ensue in this wickedly funny new play that asks what we owe the people we love and the strangers who land on our doorstep." The work will begin in January 2009 and open mid-February.

The world premiere of Mr. & Mrs. Fitch from Beane (The Little Dog Laughed, Xanadu) will play in March 2009 and open in early April. The work about two gossip columnists is described as such: "When the social circuit no longer provides any scandalous news, they find that great celebrity can appear out of thin air." The new comedy promises "a scathing look at who is in, who is out and who may not even exist at all."

A final production is yet to be announced.

Closing out the current season for the Off-Broadway troupe is the Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa play Good Boys And True (starting April 23) and Richard Nelson's Some Americans Abroad (from June 26). The company also presents its sixth summer Uptown series: Carly Mensch's Len, Asleep In Vinyl and Rajiv Joseph's Animals Out of Paper (at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre at 76th Street).
