Pioneer Theatre Company's own production of Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's musical The Producers begins April 25 in Salt Lake City.

Artistic director Charles Morey stages the smash show, which is now finding fresh life in regional theatres following its Tony Award-winning Broadway run. Performances continue to May 10.

The story of two corrupt Broadway producers is based on Mel Brooks' film of the same name. Songs are by Brooks, and the libretto is by Brooks and Meehan. The show won more Tony Awards than any other musical in Broadway history.

Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick created the roles of Bialystock and Bloom. In Salt Lake City, Max and Leo are played by Kevin C. Loomis and Michael Keyloun, respectively. Loomis makes his PTC debut after appearing on Broadway in Inherit the Wind last year. Keyloun, also making his debut with PTC, has been seen in New York in Five Wishes at the Atlantic Theater Company.

Ulla, the producers' assistant, is played by Elizabeth Clinard, who appeared in PTC's Paint Your Wagon.

The cast also includes Max Robinson as Franz; Dale Hensley as Roger De Bris; Scott Barnhardt as Carmen Ghia; with Scot Patrick Allen, Philip Michael Baskerville, Ginger Bess, Teresa Bramwell, Eric Lee Brotherson, Vanessa Cheney, Mary Fanning Driggs, Erin Hiatt, Justin Ivie, Mike Kirsch, Kelly Kohnert, Susan Day Lewis, Jayne Luke, Thomas Marcus, Janelle Neal, Katheryn Patton, Aaron Lloyd Pomeroy, Ron Remke and Daniel T. Simons. Rounding out the ensemble are Jon Brady Copier, William Richardson, and Rosie Ward.

Patti D'Beck choreographs. Lawrence Goldberg is musical director. Assistant musical director is Eric K. Johnston.

The creative team also includes scenic designer George Maxwell, costume designer K.L. Alberts, lighting designer Karl Haas, sound designer Joe Payne and hair and makeup designer Amanda French.

Performances play Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, 300 S. 1400 E., Salt Lake City, UT. For more information, call (801) 581-6961 or visit www.pioneertheatre.org.

In 2007 PTC's own production of Les Miserables, which extended, was a huge hit for the company.
