Roundabout's Bette and Boo to Begin a Day Early; All Seats $10

By Kenneth Jones
24 Apr 2008

Roundabout Theatre Company announced April 24 that preview performances of Christopher Durang's comedy The Marriage of Bette and Boo, directed by Walter Bobbie, will begin on June 12, one day earlier than previously announced.

In addition, as a special extension of ACCESS Roundabout's $10 preview program, all seats for the June 12 performance will be $10. In the not-for-profit Roundabout's Broadway homes, 100 tickets are offered for $10 to every first preview performance; and during the 2007-2008 season all 500 tickets offered immediately sold out.

ACCESS Roundabout is an audience development initiative that allocates over 22,000 affordable tickets as low as $10 to theatregoers each season.

The Marriage of Bette and Boo will feature Terry Beaver (Father Donnally), Heather Burns (Emily Brennan), Victoria Clark (Margaret Brennan), John Glover (Karl Hudlocke), Kate Jennings Grant (Bette Brennan), Julie Hagerty (Soot Hudlocke), Adam Lefevre (Paul Brennan), Zoe Lister-Jones (Joan Brennan), Charles Socarides (Matt) and Christopher Evan Welch (Boo Hudlocke).

The Marriage of Bette and Boo will officially open July 10 Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46 Street). The limited engagement ends Sept. 7.

The design team includes David Korins (sets), Susan Hilferty (costumes), Donald Holder (lights) and Acme Sound Partners (sound).

The Marriage of Bette and Boo "is a dark comedy that takes a look at the complex marriage of Bette and Boo. Three decades of marriage, divorce, alcoholism, nervous breakdowns and death — all blended in a unique mix of irony, humor and farce — are played out in 33 quick scenes."
