Ivoryton's Glass Menagerie, with Phantom's Lockyer, Begins May 7

Peter Lockyer, the Broadway actor who joined Barbra Streisand for her recent concert tour, plays Tom in the Ivoryton Playhouse's production of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, which begins performances May 7.

The Williams classic will play the Connecticut venue through May 25. Directed by Jacqueline Hubbard, the cast also features Julia Kiley as Amanda, Catherine Domareki as Laura and Andrew Sneed as Jim.

The Glass Menagerie, according to press notes, "glimpses the Wingfield family's struggle to hold its ground in 1939 St. Louis. Amanda, the matriarch of the family, is trying to maintain her dignity and provide for the future in the midst of the Great Depression. Her son Tom denies his own dreams to become the reluctant breadwinner after his father ran out on the family while his frail sister Laura has retreated to a homebound life where she finds comfort caring for her collection of little glass animals. The arrival of Jim, a 'gentleman caller,' at the Wingfield residence could be a sign of hope or a disturbance that will shatter their fragile home."

The creative team also includes set designer Dan Nischan, lighting designer Doug Harry and costume designer Pam Puente.

Peter Lockyer has been seen on Broadway in La Bohème, Cyrano—The Musical, Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. He portrayed Marius in the tour of Les Miz and Chris in the tour of Miss Saigon. Lockyer was also seen in the TV version of Gypsy as Yonkers.

The Ivoryton season will also include They're Playing Our Song (June 18-July 6), Moon Over Buffalo (July 16-Aug. 3), Evita (Aug. 13-1), Steel Magnolias (Sept. 17-Oct. 5) and The Rainmaker (Oct. 29-Nov. 16).

Show times for Glass Menagerie are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8 PM with matinees Wednesday and Sunday at 2 PM.

The Ivoryton Playhouse is located at 103 Main Street in Ivoryton, CT. For tickets call (860) 767-7318; visit ivorytonplayhouse.org for more information.
