Booth-Steel, Dismissed from "I'd Do Anything" Reality Show, to Star in All Bob's Women Musical

The first contestant to be voted off BBC-TV's ongoing "I'd Do Anything" star search to find an actress to play Nancy in the West End revival of Oliver! has become the first to win a different role in the West End.
Twenty-four-year-old Amy Booth-Steel will be part of the company of the new musical All Bob's Women, premiering at the Arts Theatre on June 24 (following previews from June 18). It is scheduled to run to Aug. 24.
Described in press materials as a "saucy, racy comedy-musical that shows why love and madness can go hand in hand – wearing very little," it revolves around a Lothario, Casanova Bob, who plans to seduce five very different women but must keep them apart so they don't become aware of his other conquests.
Booth-Steel is a graduate of the Birmingham School of Acting. She was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Bursary in 2006 and in 2007 was a finalist for the BBC Carelton Hobbs Bursary Award. She has appeared in the BBC daytime series "Doctors" and in several Birmingham theatre productions. She recently toured the U.K. in a production of Scooby Doo.
The cast also features Nicole Faraday (star of TV's "Bad Girls," who also subsequently appeared in the West End musical version in 2007), Sharon Cherry Ballard, Danielle Corlass, Sam Oatley, Tanya Robb and Lucy Thatcher.
The musical is written by Italian composer Romy Padovano (whose previous show, Eppy, was a long-running success in Italy in 2000, and who has scored films including "Eva Braun," "Mambo in New York," "Extravaganza!," "Parsifal Live 1971," "The Blue Bride" and "Nero – Rome Is Burning."
It is directed by Russell Labey, who won the Best Musical TMA Award for his adaptation of Whistle Down the Wind (not to be confused with the subsequent Andrew Lloyd Webber version). He was resident director on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and the 2001-2002 U.K. tour of Sunset Boulevard. Other directing credits include the musicals Discotivity, starring Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus, on the Edinburgh Fringe; Howard Goodall's Days of Hope at the King's Head Theatre; and the plays New Boy and Hardcore (both Edinburgh and London Pleasance).
