Noël Coward in Two Keys Completes Berkshire Season; Additional Season Casting Announced

By Adam Hetrick
16 May 2008

The Berkshire Theatre Festival will present Noël Coward in Two Keys as its final offering of the 2008 summer season.

Two Keys replaces the Jan Maxwell-Richard Chamberlain Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which, as previously reported, was postponed due to Maxwell's casting in a forthcoming Broadway production.

Noël Coward in Two Keys will play Aug. 12-30 on the BTF main stage. Vivian Matalon directs Coward's final stage work, composed of the one-act comedies Come into the Garden, Maud and A Song at Twilight. Matalon also directed the Swiss hotel-set comedies in their London and Broadway premieres.

The Berkshire Theatre Festival season will begin with Jayne Atkinson and Michel Gill in George Bernard Shaw's 1894 comedy Candida, June 17-July 5. Joining the couple are David Schramm, Finn Wittrock, Samantha Soule and Jeremiah Wiggins.

Casting has also been announced for the Berkshire Theatre Festival productions of The Book Club, A Man for All Seasons and Waiting for Godot.

Karen Zacarias' The Book Club will feature Cherise Booth, Sarah Marshall, Keira Naughton, Bhavesh Patel, Tom Story, C.J. Wilson and Anne Louise Zachry under the direction of Nick Olcott (July 9-19).

Robert Bolt's Tony-winning A Man for All Seasons will feature Andrew Belcher, David Chandler, Tara Franklin, Douglas Friedman, Eric Hill, Walter Hudson, Greg Keller, Peter Kybart, Diane Prusha, James Lloyd Reynolds, Thom Rivera, Gareth Sax, Tommy Schrider and Allison Vanouse under the direction of Richard Corley (July 22-Aug. 9).

BTF's Unicorn Theatre will present Harold Pinter's The Caretaker (May 22-June 28) with James Barry, Jonathan Epstein and Tommy Schrider starring in the sinister comedy under the direction of Eric Hill. Following will be the world premiere of Pageant Play directed by Martha Banta and penned by Matthew Wilkas and Mark Setlock. Wilkas and Setlock appear in their work, which will also feature Daiva Deupree and Jenn Harris (July 1-26).

David Adkins and Randy Harrison will star in Beckett's Waiting for Godot, alongside Stephen DeRosa, David Schramm and Cooper Stanton under the direction of Anders Cato (July 29-Aug. 3); and Stephen Temperley directs Rhoda Lerman's Eleanor: Her Secret Journey that will play an ongoing engagement on the Unicorn stage from Aug. 26-Nov. 9.

Tony Award winner Judy Kaye and husband David Green will take to the Unicorn stage Oct. 12 in A Very Special Evening with Judy Kaye and David Green. A cocktail reception will precede an evening of favorite tunes from the couple.
