Academy Award winner Andrews told Variety's Army Archerd that she is currently in talks with Broadway producers about bringing Mousical to New York.
In "The Great American Mousical," according to press notes, a "troupe of theatrical mice live and perform in a miniature world beneath Broadway." Tony Award winner Tony Walton illustrated the children's tome, and Andrews penned a new song entitled "The Show Must Go On!"
It's a busy time for Andrews, whose autobiography "Home" is currently on the New York Times' bestseller list. The celebrated actress is also at work on another book with daughter Emma Walton. Little Brown will release the new book, which is an anthology of poems and music, according to Variety.
And, as previously announced, Julie Andrews — The Gift of Music will play the Hollywood Bowl July 18 and 19. The first half of the program will feature Rodgers and Hammerstein tunes from The Sound of Music, The King and I and Cinderella. The second portion of the evening will boast a concert reading of the stage version of Andrews and Walton's children's book, Simeon's Gift. The concert version of Gift will feature the talents of Broadway favorite Anne Runolfsson and tenor Kevin Odekirk. Ian Fraser will conduct the orchestra.
