Peters, Ebersole, Akers and South Pacific to Appear at Barnes and Noble in June

By Adam Hetrick
20 May 2008

The Lincoln Triangle Barnes and Noble has announced its June line-up of theatre luminaries, including Bernadette Peters, Christine Ebersole and cast members of South Pacific, who will offer musical performances throughout the month.

June kicks off with a visit to Bali Ha'i when South Pacific cast members Kelli O'Hara, Paolo Szot, Matthew Morrison, Danny Burstein and Loretta Ables Sayre celebrate the release of the 2008 revival cast album with a performance and signing on June 5 at 5 PM. Also in attendance will be "South Pacific Companion" author Laurence Maslon.

On June 9 at 6 PM the Cool Mondays series offers a performance from The Kurt Weill Project, including vocalist Hilary Gardner for A Song About Forever: Songs by Kurt Weill.

Later in the evening, theatrical animal trainer Bill Berloni – the man responsible for Annie's original Sandy and Legally Blonde's Bruiser – stops by the Lincoln Triangle Barnes and Noble at 7:30 PM to sign and discuss his backstage book, "Broadway Tails." Berloni will be joined by Legally Blonde mascot Bruiser.

Broadway actress and acclaimed cabaret chanteuse Karen Akers celebrates her latest album "Simply Styne" – a tribute to the Funny Girl and Gypsy composer – with a performance at 6 PM on June 11.

Also scheduled to appear at the Lincoln Triangle location is Broadway legend Bernadette Peters. The star of Gypsy and Song & Dance will sign and read from her new children's book, "Broadway Barks" – inspired by her annual Broadway pet adopt-a-thon. Peters will also perform the original song she penned for the book, "Kramer's Song," at 10 AM on June 12.

On June 12 The Boys in the Band playwright Mart Crowley marks the 40th anniversary of his landmark work, with a discussion including playwright Tony Kushner, theatre columnist Peter Filichia, and actor David Greenspan at 7:30 PM.

Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole and Billy Stritch perform highlights from their latest recording from Ghostlight Records "Sunday in New York" with a performance and signing on June 17 at 7 PM.

The following day, June 18, cabaret performer and Mamma Mia veteran Karen Mason offers a selection from her album "Right Here/Right Now" at 5:30 PM.

Playwrights David Rabe and Eric Bogosian will discuss Rabe's latest novel "Dinosaurs on the Roof," "about two very different women brought together by the unlikeliest of circumstances," at 7:30 PM on June 18.

The final offering in June will be Tony Award winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell who will discuss and sign copies of "Backstage Pass: The Men of Broadway Bares," his latest book offering a peek inside the annual Broadway burlesque fundraiser for BC/EFA on June 27 at 5:30 PM.

The Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Triangle is located at 1972 Broadway at 66th Street in Manhattan. For further information call (212) 595-6859 or visit www.bn.com.
