The television pilot "Eleventh Hour," starring Tony nominee Rufus Sewell, has been picked up for the CBS fall line-up.

While in town to celebrate his Tony-nominated performance in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll (a role that earned him the Olivier, Evening Standard and London Critics' Circle Awards across the pond), Sewell told Playbill.com that the new series will air Thursdays on CBS after "CSI."

"It's got a lot of potential," Sewell said of the series in which he plays "Dr. Jacob Hood, a brilliant biophysicist and special science advisor to the government, [who] investigates scientific crises and oddities," according to CBS.

Sewell also confirmed that actress Marley Shelton ("Nixon," "Sin City") has been cast in a regular role as Sewell's bodyguard Rachel Young. In addition to Sewell and Young, the pilot of "Eleventh Hour" will feature Jimmi Simpson (The Farnsworth Invention, "My Name is Earl").

Based on the British television series by Stephen Gallagher, "Eleventh Hour" is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Rufus Sewell made his Broadway debut in Brian Friel's Translations in 1995. His screen appearances include "John Adams," "The Illusionist," "A Man of No Importance" and "The Holiday."
