Woods again steps into the role of Matron "Mama" Morton in the Tony-winning musical. June 2 also marks the return of Michelle DeJean to the role of Roxie Hart.
Carol Woods' numerous theatrical credits include The Full Monty, Chicago, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Steppin' Out, The Goodbye Girl, Grind, Big River and the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies. Woods' London credits include Blues in the Night, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination, and the National Theatre's production of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The singer-actress was also seen in Julie Taymor's "Across the Universe."
Michelle DeJean has appeared in the national and international tours of Chicago, West Side Story, Mame and Jesus Christ Superstar. She has also starred in productions of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, La Cage aux Folles, Evita, The Sound of Music and Oliver!
Chicago currently stars Nancy Lemenager as Velma Kelly, Jeff McCarthy as Billy Flynn and Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart.
Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 215 West 49th Street.
