The dysfunctional family of Tracy Letts' August: Osage County will tour the nation beginning in San Francisco in summer 2009.

The producers of the Broadway run of the lauded Steppenwolf Theatre production announced June 11 that the tour will launch at the Curran Theatre Aug. 11-Sept. 6, 2009.

Subsequent engagements will be announced shortly. No casting for the tour has been announced.

Letts won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the three-and-a-half-hour dark ensemble comedy-drama about three generations of an Oklahoma clan. The Broadway production is nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Actress, and Best Director. It also received Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and New York Drama Critics Circle awards.

Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, August: Osage County "tells the explosively funny tale of the Weston clan, triggered by the recent disappearance of the family patriarch."

The cast of the current Broadway production at the Music Box is Ian Barford, Deanna Dunagan, Kimberly Guerrero, Francis Guinan, Brian Kerwin, Michael McGuire, Mariann Mayberry, Amy Morton, Sally Murphy, Jeff Perry, Molly Ranson, Rondi Reed and Troy West.

The designers are Todd Rosenthal (sets), Ana Kuzmanic (costumes), Ann G. Wrightson (lights), Richard Woodbury (sound) and David Singer (original music).

August: Osage County performs Tuesday-Friday at 7:30 PM with matinees on Wednesday and Saturdays at 2 PM, Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.

Tickets can be purchased at Telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200. Outside the NY Metro area, call (800) 432-7250. The Music Box Theatre is located at 239 West 45th Street.
