Casting Complete for Donmar's Ivanov Starring Kenneth Branagh

Full casting has been announced for the opening production of the Donmar Warehouse's year-long residency at the Wyndham's Theatre, which kicks off Sept. 12 with Michael Grandage directing a new version of Chekhov's Ivanov by Tom Stoppard.

The previously announced Kenneth Branagh (in the title role) will be joined by a cast that also features John Atterbury, Lucy Briers, Linda Broughton, Lorcan Cranitch, Tom Hiddleston, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Gina McKee, Kevin R. McNally, Andrea Riseborough, Malcolm Sinclair and James Tucker. The production will open to the press Sept. 17 for a run to Nov. 29.

Many of the company have previously worked for the Donmar: John Atterbury, who plays Yegorushka/Pyotr, was in Grandage's production of The Wild Duck; Linda Broughton, who plays Avdotya, is currently appearing in Grandage's Donmar production of The Chalk Garden; Tom Hiddleston was last seen at the Donmar as Cassio in Grandage's production of Othello with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor; Gina McKee, who plays Anna Petrovna, was seen in Pinter's Old Times; Kevin R. McNally, who plays Lebedev, was seen at the Donmar in World Music; and Malcolm Sinclair, who plays Count Shabelsky, previously appeared in Privates on Parade there.

Also in the company are several newcomers to the Donmar: Andrea Riseborough (The Pain and the Itch at the Royal Court), who plays Sacha; Lucy Briers, who plays Babakina, was last seen in London in Samuel Adamson's Some Kind of Bliss that recently transferred to 59E59 Theatre in New York as part of the Brits Off-Broadway season; Lorcan Cranitch, who plays Borkin, has appeared extensively at Dublin's Abbey and Gate Theatres; Sylvestra Le Touzel, who plays Zinaida, has worked for the RSC, Royal Court, Almeida, Tricycle and Hampstead Theatres, amongst others; Andrea Riseborough (The Pain and the Itch at the Royal Court), who plays Sacha; and James Tucker, who plays Kosykh, has worked extensively for the RSC.
