Liz McCartney to Join Tony-Winning South Pacific Revival Cast

Liz McCartney, whose Broadway credits include Mamma Mia! and Taboo, will join the cast of the Tony-winning revival of South Pacific June 24.
McCartney will succeed Spelling Bee's Lisa Howard in the role of lead nurse Lt. Genevieve Marshall. That evening's performance – according to the musical's spokesperson – will also welcome Greg Roderick, who replaces Grady McLeod Bowman, and Eric L. Christian, who replaces Darius Nichols.
South Pacific, which plays Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater, recently won seven 2008 Tony Awards, the most of any show of the season. The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical won honors for Best Revival of a Musical, Director of a Musical (Bartlett Sher), Leading Actor in a Musical (Paulo Szot), Scenic Design of a Musical (Michael Yeargan), Sound Design of a Musical (Scott Lehrer), Costume Design of a Musical (Catherine Zuber) and Lighting Design of a Musical (Donald Holder).
Liz McCartney starred on Broadway in Mamma Mia!, Taboo, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and the short-lived musical Dance of the Vampires. She also spent nearly two years in the Boston production of Nunsense, and her regional credits include Paint Your Wagon, The Rocky Horror Show and Fifty Million Frenchmen. McCartney was seen Off-Broadway in the musical Bingo, in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Pirates! and the George Street Playhouse mounting of Souvenir.
