Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Dylan McDermott, of TV's "The Practice," has joined the cast of the Playwrights Horizons world premiere of Nicky Silver's Three Changes.

The production, directed by Wilson Milam (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), bows Aug. 22 toward an opening of Sept. 16. The limited engagement will run through Sept. 28 at Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater on West 42nd Street in Manhattan.

The cast includes the previously announced Emmy Award nominee Maura Tierney (Dr. Abby Lockhart on "ER," Some Girl(s) at MCC), Aya Cash (The Pain and the Itch at Playwrights Horizons, From Up Here at MTC) and Brian J. Smith (Good Boys and True at Second Stage, MTC's Come Back, Little Sheba). One final cast member will be announced in the coming weeks.

Silver is known for his plays Fit to Be Tied at Playwrights Horizons, plus The Food Chain, Pterodactyls and Raised in Captivity.

In Three Changes, "Nate (Dylan McDermott) and Laurel (Maura Tierney) are a comfortably married, Upper West Side couple — until Nate's wayward brother Hal arrives from Hollywood. What at first seems a casual visit, a chance to reconnect, is quickly revealed as something more ominous. Hal may have had success, but human connection is all that matters, and he intends to make connections — no matter who pays the price. Nicky Silver's Three Changes is a funny and darkly suspenseful look at the joy of family, and how far we'll go to get it."

McDermott is a Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee for his portrayal of Bobby Donnell on David E. Kelley's Emmy Award-winning series "The Practice." McDermott returned to television in fall 2007 with the Mark Gordon-produced "Big Shots" and was last seen on screen in The Pang Brothers' "The Messengers." In September 2006, McDermott returned to the stage in Eve Ensler's new play The Treatment, which opened the Impact Festival 2006, a New York City-wide arts festival as part of the Culture Project. McDermott was nominated for a Drama League Award for his performance. Among his other film credits are "Edison," "Wonderland," "Home for the Holidays," "Steel Magnolias," "Hamburger Hill," "Miracle on 34th Street" and "In The Line of Fire."

McDermott appeared in Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues on Broadway and in Golden Boy directed by Joanne Woodward at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
