Elaine Paige, the leading lady of the British musical theatre who made her Broadway debut in Sunset Boulevard, has penned her memoirs. Oberon Books Ltd will publish Paige's autobiography, which is titled "Memories," Oct. 2. Paige, of course, created the role of Grizabella for the West End production of Cats, where she introduced the song "Memory" to London audiences. The hardcover tome, according to Paige's official website, "takes us through her extraordinary career from her earliest stage appearances with Joan Littlewood's groundbreaking company in London's East End to her many starring roles in some of the biggest musicals of modern times, including Cats, Evita, Grease, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard and The Drowsy Chaperone. Illustrated with an extraordinary collection of images in color and black and white, both commissioned for this book and drawn from her own archive, 'Memories' depicts Elaine Paige in some of her most iconic roles – Evita, Grizabella from Cats, Edith Piaf, and Norma Desmond from Sunset Boulevard – but also shows Elaine away from the stage, in childhood, with family and friends, and on her travels. Polly's Night Out, celebrating the work of Obie-winning composer Polly Pen, will be presented July 14 at the Weston Playhouse in Weston, VT. The evening, described as "a gathering of songs and opinions that are silly, sinister and wildly out of context," will boast the talents of Terri Klausner, Theresa McCarthy, Bobby Steggert and Henry Stram. Alan Johnson will be the musical director for the 8 PM performance. Tickets, priced $25 (advance) and $30 (at the door), are available by visiting www.westonplayhouse.org. Stage Door Records will release a retrospective collection of Shirley Jones recordings in August. Simply titled "Then & Now," the recording will feature classic Jones recordings as well as several new tracks. The CD is scheduled to arrive in stores Aug. 25. Voices From the Great White Way is the title of a new series featuring solo concerts performed by a host of Broadway favorites. The series, which runs July 28-Nov. 3, will be presented at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, which is located within the West Bank Cafe; show time for each Monday-evening performance is 7 PM.
