The Life's Sam Harris to Celebrate New CD at Birdland

By Andrew Gans
27 Jun 2008

Sam Harris, who was most recently on Broadway playing Carmen Ghia in The Producers, will offer several concerts at Birdland to celebrate the release of his forthcoming CD, "Free."

Harris, who was seen on the CBS series "The Class" and who will soon host his own talk show, will perform at the famed jazz venue July 30-Aug. 2. Show time each night is 7 PM; Todd Schroeder is musical director.

Harris penned several of the songs for his new recording, which is described as an "acoustic driven pop/rock CD." The upcoming concert will feature songs from "Free," which is due in July, as well as fan favorites.

Sam Harris shot to fame on the TV series "Star Search." In addition to his roles in The Producers and The Life, Harris' other theatrical credits include the Broadway revival of Grease!, the L.A. productions of Hair and Pippin and the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The singer with the multi-octave range has also released several solo recordings including "Different Stages," "Standard Time" and "The Best of Christmas — Sam Harris Live!" Visit www.samharris.com for more information.

Birdland is located in Manhattan at 315 West 44th Street. There is a $30 cover charge (VIP tix are $50) and a $10 food/drink minimum. Call (212) 581-3080 or visit www.birdlandjazz.com.
