The Essentials' production of Perfect Harmony — a hit at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival — begins performances at Off-Broadway's Clurman Theatre July 6.

Conceived and directed by Andrew Grosso, the production will officially open July 10 and play a limited engagement through July 24.

The cast features Dana Acheson (Melody McDaniels), Clayton Apgar (Jasper Mergh), Sean Dugan (Simon Depardieu/Goran Dhiardeaubovic), Benjamin Huber (Phillip Fellows V), Scott Janes (JB Smooter), Vayu O'Donnell (Lassiter A. Jayson III), Amy Rutberg (Meghan Beans), Kathy Searle (Michaela Dhiardeaubovic/Kiki Tune), Margie Stokley (Valerie Smooter) and Nisi Sturgis (Kerri Taylor/Toby McClintoch).

The Essentials writers who collaborated with Grosso on Perfect Harmony include David Barlow, Jeffrey Binder, Drew Cortese, Meg DeFoe, Autumn Dornfeld, Cameron Folmar, Santino Fontana, Jordan Gelber, Scott Janes, Nicole Lowrance, Vayu O'Donnell, Thomas Piper, Maria Elena Ramirez, Jeanine Serralles, Marina Squerciati, Noah Weisberg, Margo White, Blake Whyte and Marshall York.

Perfect Harmony, according to press notes, is a comedy about "the struggle for truth, love and high school a cappella championship glory. Perennial powerhouse, The Acafellas, and their female classmates, The Ladies in Red, bare their dreams, hopes, and struggle to blend, as they battle to win Acapalooza and discover the true meaning of harmony."

The creative team also includes set designer Eliza Brown, costume designer Becky Lasky, lighting designer Brian M. Jones and music director Ray Bailey. Carlos Maisonet is production stage manager.

Show times are Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 PM and Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM with an additional performance Sunday, July 6 at 3 PM. There will be no performance Tuesday, July 8.

The Clurman Theatre is located in Manhattan at 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues). Tickets, priced $18, are available by calling (212) 279-4200 or by visiting www.ticketcentral.com.
