Hadary to Join Tour of Spamalot in September

By Andrew Gans
03 Jul 2008

Jonathan Hadary

Jonathan Hadary, who recently completed a lengthy run as King Arthur in the Broadway production of Monty Python's Spamalot, will join the tour of that Tony-winning musical in September.

Hadary will reprise his work as King Arthur beginning Sept. 2 in Hartford, CT at The Bushnell. He will continue with the tour through Feb. 1, 2009.

A Tony nominee for his work as Herbie opposite the Rose of Tyne Daly in the 1989 revival of Gypsy, Jonathan Hadary has also appeared on Broadway in Awake and Sing!, All Shook Up, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Guys and Dolls, As Is, Torch Song Trilogy and Gemini.

Spamalot features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, direction by Mike Nichols, choreography by Casey Nicholaw and is based on the screenplay of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.

The musical tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest from God for the Holy Grail — with a short stop in the dazzling Spam-filled land of Camelot.

Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez).

Spamalot celebrated its third anniversary at Broadway's Shubert Theatre March 18.
