Fellner, Marshall, Morris and Renfroe Read notes to MariAnne July 18-20 at the Powerhouse

By Andrew Gans

Jenny Fellner

Workshop performances of the musical notes to MariAnne — part of the Powerhouse Theatre's 2008 summer season, which is the result of a partnership between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College — begin July 18.

Directed by Jeremy Dobrish, the "modern musical fairytale" plays the Martel Theater, located within the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film. Show times are July 18 and 19 at 8 PM and July 20 at 2 PM.

The cast features Jenny Fellner (Crossing Brooklyn, Mamma Mia!) as MariAnne, Allen E. Read (Mask) as Johnny, Gay Marshall (Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, A Chorus Line) as Eve, Eric William Morris (Coram Boy) as Mason, John Antony (Passion, Titanic) as Jack and Renée Brna (Coram Boy) as June Johnson with Ken Triwush (Crossing Brooklyn, Titanic), Molly Renfroe (By Jeeves, The Dark Half) and Jordan Brodsky.

Notes to MariAnne features book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Dan Lipton. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "a brother and sister torn apart by their dark past, and reunited by undying love. A haunting tapestry of hope and loss woven together by an emotionally rich book and a gorgeous popular score."

Tickets, priced $25, are available by visiting http://powerhouse.vassar.edu or by calling (845) 437-7235 or (845) 437-5599.
