Lavin and Najimy to Star in Reading of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore

A staged reading of Love, Loss, and What I Wore will be presented Aug. 2 at Guild Hall's Bridgehampton Community House in East Hampton, NY.

Karen Carpenter will direct the 8 PM reading of Nora and Delia Ephron's "new play in development." Tony winner Linda Lavin and Kathy Najimy will head an ensemble cast to be announced.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is based on Ilene Beckerman's book of the same title, which contends that "our memories are often tied to our favorite clothes" and concerns the character of Gingy, who "tells the story of her life through the clothes she wore. From her Brownie uniform to her Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, Gingy offers a closet full of memories. She remembers her prom dresses, her wedding dresses, and her starting-over-her-new-life dresses. Gingy is Everywoman. She's a wise old friend who's survived divorce, the death of a child, the quirks of friends and family, crushes and heartbreak and bursts of joy and happiness. Like all of us, she likes to look nice while she's pursuing happiness."

The summer season at Guild Hall will also include Sing Me No Love Songs on July 27 (featuring Melissa Errico and George Dvorsky singing the songs of Kurt Weill), Jerome Kern in Hollywood on Aug. 3 (featuring KT Sullivan and Lee Roy Reams singing the songs of Jerome Kern), a staged reading of Harold Pinter's Betrayal on Aug. 20 (featuring Tom Gustin, Morgan Duke and Stephen Hamilton), a staged reading of Golda's Balcony on Aug. 23 (featuring Barbara Rosenblat) and a staged reading of Chère Maître - The Correspondence of Gustave Flaubert and George Sand Aug. 24 and 25 (starring Kathleen Chalfant and Harris Yulin).

Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton, NY. For more information call (631) 324-4050 or visit www.guildhall.org.
