A new "chamber" production of Adam Guettel's Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza began performances at Vermont's Weston Playhouse Theatre July 10.

Guettel collaborated with director Steve Stettler to create a more intimate version of the work, utilizing a smaller ensemble than was seen in the original Lincoln Center Theater staging as well as a new orchestration (by the composer) calling for only five players in the pit.

The production stars Theresa McCarthy (Floyd Collins, Myths and Hymns and Titanic) as Margaret Johnson and Lauren Worsham (Cunegonde in NYCO's Candide) as daughter Clara. Kevin Worley, fresh from a yearlong stint as Al in Broadway's A Chorus Line, plays Fabrizio.

Also featured are Sarah Uriarte Berry reprising the role that she created on Broadway, Jonathan Raviv as Giuseppe Naccarelli, David Bonanno as Signor Naccarelli, Michelle Rios as Signora Naccarelli and Michael Berry as Roy.

The Weston season continues with productions of Les Misérables, As You Like It, No Child… and an original children's musical, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type.

Visit www.westonplayhouse.org for further information and tickets.

Here is a look at the show, which concludes its run July 26:
