Camp Broadway to Perform in Macy's Parade; Auditions Held July 19

By Andrew Gans
18 Jul 2008

Camp Broadway, the theatre arts education company, will once again perform in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The organization will perform the closing number of the 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is scheduled for Nov. 27. Entitled "I Believe in Santa Claus," the song penned by Wesley Whatley and Bill Schermerhorn will feature 300 performers, ages 10-14.

Auditions for this year's parade will be held July 19 at Chelsea Studios, located in Manhattan at 151 West 26th Street beginning at 10 AM. Children ages 10-14 should complete an application (visit www.campbroadway.com) and come to the audition in comfortable clothes.

Auditioners will be asked to dance and possibly sing (be prepared with sheet music of 16 bars of any song). An application can also be submitted, accompanied by a videotape/DVD of a one-minute musical solo and short dance routine, to Tony Parise, c/o Camp Broadway, 336 West 37th Street, Suite 460, New York, NY 10018 no later than Sept. 1.

Camp Broadway's appearance in the parade — for the seventh consecutive year — is the culmination of a six-day musical-theatre program that begins Nov. 21 and includes rehearsals, dance workshops, costume fittings, make-up lessons and cast activities.
