Rent's Pascal Offers New Album "Blinding Light"

By Adam Hetrick
31 Jul 2008

Tony nominated Broadway rocker and original Rent star Adam Pascal will release his latest album "Blinding Light" in September.

A collaboration with singer-songwriter Larry Edoff, "Blinding Light" marks the first album from Me and Larry, the band founded by Pascal and Edoff. The duo were inspired to pen the album following their sold-out 2006 concert tour.

All songs on the 12-track disc are penned by Pascal and Edoff who will begin a U.S. concert tour to promote "Blinding Light" this September.

Rent enthusiasts take note: original Rent cast member Daphne Rubin-Vega duets with Pascal on the album's fourth track, "Call Your Bluff."

Fans are currently able to exclusively download the album by visiting the official Me and Larry website at MeandLarry.com. "Blinding Light" will be released in stores Sept. 9.

"Blinding Light" is described as "an exhilarating collection of songwriting matched with the passionate, fiery musicianship that trademark both Pascal and Edoff's solo albums. Broadway star Adam Pascal and songwriter Larry Edoff combine Pascal’s unmatched vocal range — from aching and suave to raw and explosive — with Edoff's flawless musicianship and vast musical vocabulary where jazz and rock meet touches of world music twinged with classical. The result is an album of unsurpassed stylistic range and lyrical depth that carries the alternative-rock genre to new creative heights."

The track listing for "Blinding Light" follows:

"Single Drop of You"
"Don’t Lie"
"Turn the Lights On"
"Call Your Bluff"
"I Can’t Go One Without You"
"Space in a Blinding Light"
"Will I Drown"
"Nothing Will Tear Us Apart"
"Just Like I Am"
"Fade Out"
"See Me Shining"
"Pause The Clock"

Adam Pascal is a Tony nominee for his portrayal of Roger in the 1996 musical Rent, a role he re-created for the film adaptation. He and original co-star Anthony Rapp will tour the country with the show in 2009. He created the role of Radames for the Disney adaptation of the Verdi opera Aida. Pascal also appeared in the Broadway production of Cabaret and has released the solo recordings "Model Prisoner" and "Civilian."

Larry Edoff, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, has performed with artists including Tony Bennett, The Count Basie Orchestra, Vinny Valentino, Matt Garrison, John Benitez, Jarrod Cagwin, Adam Rogers, Jeff Andrews,Bill Moring, Steve Wilson and Richard Bona. His albums include "Duende" and "In Subtle Tones."
