[title of show] Cast to Open NASDAQ Aug. 5

By Adam Hetrick
04 Aug 2008

The cast of Broadway's [title of show] will preside over the opening bell of the NASDAQ Stock Market on Aug. 5.

The musical's stars and creators, including Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, as well as accompanist Larry Pressgrove and swings Courtney Balan, and Benjamin Howes will ring the opening bell at 9:30 AM.

[title of show] began previews at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway July 5 and officially opened July 17.

"Part shaggy dog tale, part Cinderella story, part quit-your-job and do what you've always wanted to do with your life," [title of show], according to press notes, "is the tale of four scrappy young people who set out to realize their lifelong dream and write a musical, hoping to get it to Broadway. Unfolding before the audience in 'real time,' the musical appears to be writing itself, taking theatregoers inside the creative and dream-making process, the ups and downs, the perils and the pleasures."

The production features music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, book by Hunter Bell and is directed by Michael Berresse.

The creative team also includes Larry Pressgrove (musical direction and onstage accompanist), Neil Patel (set design), Chase Tyler (costume design), Ken Billington and Jason Kantrowitz (lighting design) and ACME Sound Partners (sound design).

[title of show] debuted in 2004 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Bowen, Bell and Berresse each won a 2006 Obie Award for work on the subsequent 2006 Off-Broadway production at the Vineyard Theatre.

Song titles include "Untitled Opening Number," "Two Nobodies in New York," "An Original Musical," "Monkeys and Playbills," "The Tony Award Song," "Part of It All," "I Am Playing Me," "What Kind of Girl Is She?," "Die Vampire, Die!," "Filling Out the Form," "September Song," "Secondary Characters," "A Way Back to Then," "Nine People's Favorite Thing," "Finale" and "[title of show]."

Tickets are priced $26.50, $51.50 and $101.50, with the exception of Saturday matinee and evening performances, which are priced $36.50, $61.50 and $111.50.
