New Musical White Noise Is Aiming for Broadway Following New Orleans Run

By Andrew Gans
11 Aug 2008

The new musical White Noise, which played an award-winning, extended run at the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival, will play an out-of-town engagement in 2009 in New Orleans.

Sibling Theatricals, Inc. (founded by Tony winner Mitchell Maxwell) and Holly Way & Co. announced Aug. 11 that White Noise will play a January 2009 engagement in New Orleans before arriving on Broadway in May 2009. No theatre or casting has been announced.

White Noise, according to a press statement, is a "cautionary musical that reimagines the adage 'when good men do nothing evil happens.' Its tale is how hate can be taught, fear can be learned and intolerance can be sold when harnessed, polished and packaged correctly. . .[The musical] is the story of siblings who use their music to promote prejudice to a desensitized America, the middlemen who endorse them purely for monetary gain, and the bystanders who in their passivity allow it all to happen."

The musical was conceived by Ryan J. Davis and features a book and score by Joe Drymala with additional songs by Ben Cohn and Sean McDaniel, Rick Crom, Glen Kelly, Laurence O'Keefe, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and Eric Svejcar.

Readings of White Noise were held in March 2007 at Chelsea Studios in Manhattan. Those readings featured the talents of Robert Cuccioli, Libby Winters, Kate Loprest, Micah Shepherd, Curtis Holbrook and John O'Creagh.
