Two Broadway actors, Michael Stuhlbarg and Richard Kind, have been cast in the forthcoming Coen brothers film, "A Serious Man," according to Variety.

Joel and Ethan Coen penned the screenplay for the new film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Minneapolis in September.

Set in 1967, "A Serious Man," the trade paper reports, centers on "Larry Gopnik (Stuhlbarg), a Midwestern professor whose life begins to unravel when his wife sets out to leave him and his socially inept brother (Kind) won't move out of the house."

The film will be executive produced by Working Title and distributed by Focus Features. The Coen brothers also share producing duties.

Richard Kind has appeared on Broadway in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Producers, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and Sly Fox as well as in the City Opera production of Candide. In addition to appearing in the Goodman world premiere of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical Bounce, Kind is known for his screen work on "Mad About You," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Scrubs" and "Spin City."

Michael Stuhlbarg was Tony-nominated for his performance in The Pillowman. He has also been seen on Broadway in The Invention of Love, Cabaret, Taking Sides, The Government Inspector, Timon of Athens, Three Men on a Horse and Saint Joan. Stuhlbarg also played the title role in the Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet.
