Irons, Lehrer, Norris, Roeder, Stoltenberg and Walker Set for Second City at Alliance

By Adam Hetrick
25 Aug 2008

The Alliance Theatre and Chicago's Second City comedy troupe have aligned to present the world premiere of The Second City: Too Busy To Hate… Too Hard To Commute, which begins performances Sept. 19 in Atlanta.

Written and created by the cast of Second City, with additional material by Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff, The Second City, according to press notes, "takes a Southern-fried stab at Atlanta, creating a show that reflects the city in all its diversity, complexity and hilarity."

The cast of the two-act satire includes Anthony Irons, Michael Lehrer, Robyn Norris, Amy Roeder, Tim Stoltenberg and Ric Walker. Lisa McQueen serves as musical director.

Matt Hovde directs The Second City, which runs through Oct. 19 on the Hertz stage. An official opening night is set for Sept. 24.

For tickets and information phone (404) 733-5000 or visit www.alliancetheatre.org.

The Alliance Theatre is located within the Woodruff Arts Center, at the corner of Peachtree Street and 15th Street, in Atlanta, GA.

The Second City is the birthplace of many legendary comedians including Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Mike Myers, John Candy and Tina Fey. Besides being a proven training ground for high profile comedians, it has a solid national reputation for irreverent, homegrown sketch comedy.
