MTG's Seesaw to Feature Alyson, Cartwright, Bolero, MacDonald and More

By Andrew Gans
28 Aug 2008

Complete casting has been announced for the Musical Theatre Guild's upcoming production of the classic seventies musical Seesaw.

Directed and choreographed by Todd Nielsen, the company will feature MTG members Eydie Alyson, Roger Befeler, Danny Bolero, Steven Hack, Ron Christopher Jones and Melissa Lyons with guest artists Kari Lee Cartwright, Robyn Cohen, Drew D'Andrea, Lindsey MacDonald, Jake Wesley Stewart, Drew Trent and Lowe Taylor.

The one-night-only staging — Sept. 15 at 7:30 PM at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA — will also feature musical direction by Dean Mora and vocal direction by Steven Smith. Eileen Barnett produces; Pamela Hamill is the associate producer.

Adapted from William Gibson's play Two for the Seesaw, the musical features a score by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and a book by Michael Bennett. Seesaw received seven Tony nominations, winning for Tommy Tune's performance and Bennett's choreography.

The musical, according to press notes, "tells the tale of a slightly square, not–quite single lawyer from the Midwest and an off-kilter would-be-dancer from the Bronx."

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale, CA. For tickets call (818) 243-ALEX or visit www.alextheatre.org.
