Cast Announced for NYMF's To Paint the Earth

The Warsaw Ghetto comes to life in the new musical To Paint the Earth, which premieres Sept. 22 as part of the fifth annual New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Featuring music by Jonathan Portera and words by Daniel Frederick Levin, the 2004 Richard Rodgers Development Award-winning musical will run through Oct. 1 at 37 Arts.

Inspired by first-hand accounts from the Warsaw Ghetto, To Paint the Earth, press notes state, "tells a fictional account of the resisters and their families, exploring how a broken community was brought to one of history's most stunning and unimaginable decisions–to fight a last battle they had no chance of winning."

Featured in the company are Jane Pfitsch (Company), Scott Richard Foster (Brooklyn), Robin Skye (Parade) and Darin de Paul (Grinch).

Completing the cast of To Paint the Earth are Holly Ann Butler, Fred Berman, Jessica Carter, Daniel Katz, Maxine Linehan, Lauren Lebowitz, David Nathan Perlow, A.J. Shively, Steve Strafford and Lee Zarrett.

Michael Bush (Based on a Totally True Story) directs, and the creative team also includes Katya Stanislavskaya (musical director), Christian Imboden (orchestrations), Alexis Distler (set design), Sara James (costume design), Raquel Davis (lighting design) and David Margolin Lawson (sound design).
