The North American tour of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Tony-winning rock musical Spring Awakening officially launches at San Francisco's Curran Theatre Sept. 4.

Kyle Riabko and Blake Bashoff, who made their Broadway debuts in the coming-of-age musical as Melchior and Moritz, respectively, reprise their roles for the tour that plays the California venue through Oct. 12. (Prior to its official bow in San Francisco, Spring Awakening premiered its touring counterpart at San Diego's Balboa Theatre Aug. 15-31.)

As on Broadway, Michael Mayer directs; the touring production also reunites the entire creative team from the award-winning New York production.

The young cast of Spring Awakening also features Christy Altomare (Wendla), Steffi D (Ilse), Krystina Alabado (Swing), Julie Benko (Ensemble), Todd Cerveris (Understudy Adult Men), Chase Davidson (Swing), Kate Fuglei (Understudy Adult Women), Gabrielle Garza (Anna), Kimiko Glenn (Thea), Sarah Hunt (Martha), Anthony Lee Medina (Otto), Andy Mientus (Hanschen), Ben Moss (Ernst), Angela Reed (Adult Women), Perry Sherman (Ensemble), Matt Shingledecker (Georg), Claire Sparks (Ensemble), Henry Stram (Adult Men) and Lucas A. Wells (Ensemble).

A free "In Conversation" event will be held Sept. 7 at 2 PM on the stage of the Curran. Members of the creative team will discuss the process of developing the Tony-winning Spring Awakening. New York Times writer Jesse McKinley will moderate the hour-long discussion. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In a recent statement, the musical's producers said, "As we embark on our first tour across the United States and Canada, we are thrilled to announce a cast of exceptionally gifted young actors. We are continually amazed and delighted at the breadth of their talent and are excited for audiences coast to coast to have the opportunity to experience such exhilarating performances."

Additional tour engagements for Spring Awakening include:

Songs featured in the Tony-winning score are "All That's Known," "And Then There Were None," "Blue Wind/Don't Do Sadness," "Left Behind," "Mamma Who Bore Me," "My Junk, "The Bitch of Living," "The Dark I Know Well," "The Guilty Ones," "The Song of Purple Summer," "The Word of Your Body," "Those You've Known," "Totally Fucked," "Touch Me," "Whispering" and "The Mirror-Blue Night."
