In celebration of the tenth anniversary of Joe's Pub — the cabaret located within the Public Theater — a two-day series of ten free concerts will be offered at the intimate venue in October.
Entitled 10 for the 10th, the celebration will kick off Oct. 10 with Joe's Pub 10th Anniversary Gala: A Tribute to Judy Collins. The evening will begin with dinner at Chinatown Brasserie followed by a tribute to Collins — who appeared in a production of Peer Gynt at the Delacorte in 1969 — at The Public's Anspacher Theater. Among those who will honor Collins in performance are Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Jimmy Webb, Amy Speace, Kenny White and Ali Eskandarian.
The other free offerings include Baby Loves Salsa (Oct. 11 at 11 AM), singer-composer-guitarist Raúl Midón (Oct. 11 at 2:30 PM), songwriter Jill Sobule (Oct. 11 at 6 PM), Imani Uzuri Presents Mosaic with special guests (Oct. 11 at 9:30 PM), The Budos Band (Oct. 12 at 12:30 AM), Allen Toussaint (Oct. 12 at 11 AM), Roy Nathanson and friends (Oct. 12 at 2:30 PM), Reggie Watts with special guests (Oct. 12 at 6 PM), The Stew Songbook, featuring Penny Arcade and John Cameron Mitchell (Oct. 12 at 9:30 PM), and BE IN: A Night of Music & Love with members of the Public Theater's cast of Hair (Oct. 13 at 12:30 AM).
