Wonderettes Star Alvin to Go It Solo Sept. 24

Farah Alvin, who is currently starring in the new Off-Broadway musical The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Westside Theatre, will go it solo Sept. 24 at the Ars Nova.

As part of the cabaret's "Uncharted" series, which focuses on "burgeoning singer/songwriters . . . who have yet to break the Billboard 100," Alvin will present Storytelling: The Music and Lyrics of Farah Alvin. Show time is 8 PM.

"With her soulful voice and frank, thoughtful lyrics," press notes state, "Alvin weaves a sound that's equal parts Laura Nyro, Paul Simon, and Ben Folds. Making her Ars Nova debut with an evening of songs reflecting on love, loss, melancholy and joy, Alvin's secret life is about to be big news."

Farah Alvin has been seen on Broadway in Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Nine and The Look of Love. She also took part in the Actors Fund benefits of Funny Girl and Chess. Off-Broadway Alvin was seen in I Love You Because, Cam Jansen and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Other Story Books; her regional credits are numerous.
