Sh-K-Boom Series at Joe's Pub Launches Sept. 8 with RIPLEY

The Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight concert series at Joe's Pub, which will present a mix of Broadway performers and composers Mondays at 11:30 PM, kicks off Sept. 8 with RIPLEY.

The rock band RIPLEY comprises songwriter/guitarist/lead singer Alice Ripley (Side Show, Next to Normal), drummer Shannon Ford and keyboard player Christopher Schelling. RIPLEY can be heard on the CD "Outtasite."

Alice Ripley, who starred in the Paper Mill Playhouse's production of The Baker's Wife, has appeared on Broadway in Side Show (Tony nomination), The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce's The Dead, Sunset Boulevard, The Who's Tommy, Les Misérables and in the City Center Encores! production of Li'l Abner. She has also been seen in Next to Normal (Drama Desk nomination), Tell Me On a Sunday, Company, Shakespeare in Hollywood, The Fabulous Invalid and Five Flights. Ripley's non-show recordings include two discs with Side Show co-star Emily Skinner — "Duets" and "Unsuspecting Hearts" — and a recording of her own compositions, "Everything's Fine." The singing actress also heads her own rock band, RIPLEY; the group has released a CD titled "Outtasite," now available on iTunes, CDBaby and Pandora.com.

It was recently announced that Ripley will reprise her work as a bipolar mom in Arena Stage's upcoming production of Next to Normal.

Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street. Tickets are available by calling (212) 967-7555 or by visiting www.joespub.com.

The h-K-Boom/Ghostlight concert series will continue Sept. 15 at 11:30 PM with recent Spring Awakening star Lauren Pritchard. The young singing actress will perform tunes from her forthcoming debut album, which is due at the end of the year.

TASTiSKANK — which features Sarah Litzsinger and Kate Reinders — will perform Sept. 22 at 11:30 PM. The group is billed as "the rockin' love child of Tenacious D and the Indigo Girls."
