Barrington Season to Include Mockingbird and Carousel

By Andrew Gans
09 Sep 2008

Two productions have been announced for the upcoming season at the Barrington Stage Company, the not-for-profit professional theatre company located in the Berkshires.

According to the theatre's official website, theatregoers can expect to enjoy productions of To Kill a Mockingbird and Carousel.

Artistic director Julianne Boyd will direct Mockingbird, which will play the Barrington's Mainstage Oct. 8-26, 2008. Christopher Sergel has penned the adaptation of Harper Lee's famed novel, which is described as "a powerful exploration of racial injustice, courage and the loss of innocence in the American Deep South."

The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel will play the Mainstage June 17, 2009-July 11, 2009. Artistic director Boyd will also direct the musical, which features such classics as "June is Bustin' Out All Over," "If I Loved You" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." Joshua Bergasse will choreograph the production with musical direction by Darren Cohen.

The Barrington's Musical Theatre Lab season — featuring works of up-n-coming composers — will be presened Sept. 1-30, 2008.

Casting and additional productions will be announced at a later date.

The Barrington Stage Company is located at 30 Union Street in Pittsfield, MA. Tickets are available by calling (413) 236-8888 or by visiting www.barringtonstageco.org.
