Oscar-winning actor F. Murray Abraham will narrate the New York premiere of Don Quijote de la Mancha: Romances y Músicas Oct. 20.
Abraham serves as the narrator for the piece created by director Jordi Savall that pairs the words of Miguel de Cervantes with folk songs and period music to bring to life the tale of Don Quixote. Joining Abraham will be soprano Montserrat Figueras, instrumental ensemble Hespèrion XXI and vocal group La Capella Reial de Catalunya.
Originally created for the 400th anniversary of "Don Quixote" in 2005, Don Quijote de la Mancha: Romances y Músicas is filled with period musical references and actual compositions mentioned in Cervantes' work.
A post-concert discussion will follow.
