NYMF's College: The Musical, with Espinoza, Ephraim, Selman and Rosenberg, Begins Sept. 18

By Adam Hetrick
18 Sep 2008

College: The Musical, the new insider's guide to academic life with a tuneful twist, begins its New York Musical Theatre Festival run Sept. 18.

A host of young Broadway talent is on the class roster for the musical penned by recent Princeton graduates Drew Fornarola and Scott Elmegreen. College will run through Sept. 28 at the American Theatre of Actors.

Following an extended world-premiere engagement at Florida's Hippodrome Theatre, College is proving to be a big-seller for NYMF. The production has already sold-out several performances of its limited run.

The cast includes Brandon Espinoza (Gypsy, Les Misérables), Molly Ephraim (Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods), Emily Klein (Parade), Juliana Ashley Hansen (Saved), Casey Ford Alexander (A Little Princess), Damon Gravina (Footloose), Kyra Lorraine Selman (Beauty and the Beast), Eric Petersen (Spelling Bee), Rob Hancock (Mamma Mia!), Marie-France Arcilla, Michael Jennings Mahoney and stage veteran Sandy Rosenberg (Mamma Mia!, The Scarlet Pimpernel).

Jeremy Dobrish (Election Day) directs the NYMF production that is described as "a tuneful and honest look at modern campus life… The show explores the ridiculousness and pure fun of life in a dorm room, as well as offering a more serious reflection on growing up and trying to find oneself amid the chaos and insanity of the college experience."

The creative team for College includes Mark Hartman (musical direction), Boo Killebrew (choreography), Michael Gottlieb (lighting design), Steven Capone (scenic design), Michael Eisenberg (sound design) and David Kaley (costume design).

Tickets for all NYMF productions are available by visiting NYMF.
