Charles Kimbrough

Charles Kimbrough, a Tony nominee for his work in the original company of Company and an Emmy nominee for his performance in TV's "Murphy Brown," will join the previously announced David Hyde Pierce in the upcoming Broadway production of Samson Raphaelson's Accent on Youth.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan (Proof, Rabbit Hole), the production will begin previews at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman April 7, 2009, with an official opening scheduled for April 29.

Kimbrough will play the role of Flogdell, the distinguished butler of playwright Stephen Gaye, played by Tony winner Pierce. Additional casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

Kimbrough's most recent New York credits include the Encores! staging of No, No Nanette and the New York Philharmonic production of My Fair Lady. He was previously seen in MTC's Sylvia opposite Blythe Danner, Sarah Jessica Parker and Derek Smith.

Accent on Youth, press notes state, is a "rollicking salute to love's possibilities, both on stage and off. Successful playwright Stephen Gaye (Pierce) is about to abandon his latest script, when his young secretary offers him new inspiration. With her as his muse, he stages the show on Broadway, only to learn, to his dismay, that the show's young leading man is being inspired by her too."
