Speech & Debate Gets Extension at Southern Rep in New Orleans

Southern Rep in New Orleans has added four performances to its popular run of Stephen Karam's audacious comedy, Speech & Debate, directed by artistic director Aimée Hayes.

Two recent hurricanes (Ike and Gustav) there didn't dampen interest in the high-school-set dark comedy with songs in which "blogs are belted, secrets become currency, and 'bathing suit areas' are exposed."

The cast includes Natalie Boyd, Sean Knapp, Sean Glazebrook and Liann Pattison.

The first performance was Sept. 10, following a week of canceled shows due to Hurricane Gustav. Opening was Sept. 13. Performances continue to Oct. 12, playing Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
