Tony Award-winning actress Lillias White and Christiane Noll, recently seen in the Signature's world premiere of the new musical Ace, are scheduled to be among the performers taking part in a free concert Oct. 2 in Manhattan's Bryant Park.
Presented by The New York Pops, the 5:30 PM concert in the midtown park will be hosted by WQXR's Midge Woolsey and pianist Constantine Kitsopoulos. Entitled The Bernstein Songbook, the early-evening performance will feature songs from such Bernstein classics as West Side Story, On the Town, Wonderful Town and more.
Joining White and Noll will be a trio of musicians from The New York Pops as well as tenor Martín Solá and violinist Sara Caswell. The concert will preview The New York Pops' Oct. 17 Carnegie Hall performance, which is part of the festival commemorating the 90th anniversary of Bernstein's birth, Bernstein: The Best of All Possible Worlds.
The concert is part of Bryant Park's New York Now music series.
Lillias White, who starred in the award-winning revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, garnered a Tony Award for her work in Cy Coleman's The Life. She also starred on Broadway in Barnum and Once on This Island and as Effie in the revival of Dreamgirls. White has also appeared in the Actors' Fund of America's benefit concerts of Dreamgirls, Funny Girl and Hair and was part of the cast of the City Center Encores! production of Purlie.
No tickets or reservations are necessary for the concert, located on Bryant Park's Upper Terrace. Bryant Park is located in midtown Manhattan at 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue. For more information visit bryantpark.org/calendar/nynow.php.
