Victoria Clark Will Sing Work of Ricky Ian Gordon at Presidential Fundraiser

By Andrew Gans
03 Oct 2008

Tony Award winner Victoria Clark.

An evening raising funds to support the candidacy of Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be held Oct. 7 at the home of Tom Fontana in Manhattan.

Presented by Fontana and The Health, Housing & Human Services Community, the 6-8 PM evening will boast performances by composer Ricky Ian Gordon (The Grapes of Wrath, Orpheus and Euridice) and Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza, Titanic). Clark will perform four songs from Gordon's repertoire.

Among those scheduled to attend the fundraiser are Kevin Bacon, Blythe Danner, Edie Falco, Mariska Hargitay, John Leguizamo, Chris Meloni, Terry Kinney, Julianna Margulies, S. Epatha Merkerson, Dean Winters and Senators Liz Krueger and Tom Duane.

Clark, most recently on the New York stage in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of The Marriage of Bette and Boo, received a 2005 Tony Award for her performance in The Light in the Piazza. Her other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Urinetown, Titanic, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Guys and Dolls and A Grand Night for Singing. Among Clark's screen credits are "The Happening," "Cradle Will Rock," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU" and "Sweeney Todd in Concert." As a director, she helmed the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics & Lyricists" series Serenade in Blue: The Mack Gordon Song Cavalcade. PS Classics released Clark's debut solo recording, "Fifteen Seconds of Grace," in November 2007. The actress also co-starred in the City Center Encores! production of Follies.

There is a suggested minimum contribution of $250. To contribute or attend the event, visit http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gs53cb.
