McCarthy Is Flynn in Broadway's Chicago Beginning Oct. 6

| photo by Aubrey Reuben | Chicago veteran Jeff McCarthy returns to the cast of that Tony Award-winning Kander and Ebb revival at the Ambassador Theatre Oct. 6.
McCarthy again steps into the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn for a one-week run through Oct. 12 while Tom Wopat (who returns Oct. 13) is on vacation.
On Broadway, Chicago currently stars Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron "Mama" Morton.
(On Oct. 27 Terra C. MacLeod will again play merry murderess Velma Kelly while Braxton vacations. MacLeod will end her limited engagement Nov. 2. MacLeod, as previously announced, will also play Velma Kelly in the tenth national tour of Chicago, which launches Nov. 10 at the Belk Theatre in Charlotte, NC.)
McCarthy has been seen on Broadway in The Pirate Queen, Urinetown, Side Show, Beauty and the Beast, Smile, Zorba and Pirates of Penzance and Off-Broadway in Dream True and Sympathetic Magic. His other theatrical credits include The Opposite of Sex, Les Misérables, Three Sisters, City of Angels, Arms and the Man, Follies, The Misanthrope, Henry IV, Sunday in the Park with George and A Lie of the Mind. McCarthy's screen credits include "Law & Order," "Star Trek," "L.A. Law," "Cheers," "Designing Women," "Heat of the Night," "RoboCop II," "Eve of Destruction," "Rapid Fire" and "Cliffhanger."
MacLeod was recently seen in Musical Theatre West's production of Guys and Dolls. She is the recipient of the Jessie Richardson Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Anita in the Vancouver Arts Club production of West Side Story. MacLeod's screen credits include "The Lizzie Maguire Movie," "The Reagans," "The Dead Zone," "Jeremiah," "Cold Squad" and "Life or Something Like It."
Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
The long-running musical will celebrate its 12th anniversary and its 5,000th performance on Broadway Nov. 14.
Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 215 West 49th Street.
