By Adam Hetrick
13 Oct 2008

Tony Award winner Chita Rivera.

Jack Cole, Alive and Kicking, featuring an appearance by Tony winner Chita Rivera, takes place at Symphony Space Oct. 13.

Cole, who is credited with creating theatrical jazz dance, lent his talents to such musicals as Kismet, Man of La Mancha, Alive and Kicking, Jamaica, Kean and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, as well as the films "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "There's No Business Like Show Business."

Dick Cavett hosts the 8 PM panel and performance including appearances by Rivera, Marge Champion (featured in a clip from "Three for the Show"), choreographer Alan Johnson, Larry Fuller and Ethel and George Martin.

Also on hand will be Norma Doggett Beswick (Magdalena), Gemze deLappe (Kismet, Oklahoma), Stuart Hodes (Kismet), filmmaker Annette Macdonald, Jack Cole biographer Svetlana Grody, Dana Moore, Patti Lockery and Carol Shuberg, who will perform a Cole-inspired piece choreographed by Lockery.

Tickets, priced $35 and $15 for DO40 members, are available by phoning (212) 864-5400 or by visiting SymphonySpace.

Symphony Space is located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street in Manhattan.
