Academy Award-nominated actress Marsha Mason will join Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and actor Michael Cristofer for a reading of his play The Whore and Mr. Moore at the Westport Country Playhouse on Oct. 20.

Cristofer and Mason will read the two-hander as part of Westport's "Funny Monday" comedy series, which will take place at 7 PM.

Cristofer's The Whore and Mr. Moore, according to press notes, "is about Mr. Moore, a second-rate playwright whose only recent commission is to write a play for the Leopold Stoffer High School in Des Moines. He retreats to a 19th century mansion in 'a twisted, remote corner of the Maine landscape' to write. His world is turned upside down when the former owner of the house, the ghost of a brothel madame by the name of Maggie O'Connell demands her story be told before finally 'moving on.'"

Marsha Mason, who will star as Winnie in Beckett's Happy Days for California Shakespeare Theater in 2009, has appeared on Broadway in Steel Magnolias, The Good Doctor, Night of the Iguana and Happy Birthday, Wanda Jane. She earned Oscar nominations for her work in the films "Cinderella Liberty," "The Goodbye Girl," "Chapter Two" and "Only When I Laugh."

Michael Cristofer, a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award- winner for his play The Shadow Box, currently stars Off-Broadway in Lee Blessing's A Body of Water for Primary Stages. His numerous screenplays include "The Witches of Eastwick," "Falling in Love," "The Bonfire of the Vanities" and "Breaking Up."

Tickets, priced $15, are available by calling (203) 227-4177 or by visiting www.westportplayhouse.org.
