Schumacher's Updated "How Does the Show Go On?" Arrives in Stores Oct. 14

By Adam Hetrick
14 Oct 2008

A new version of Thomas Schumacher's "How Does the Show Go On?," which is subtitled "An Introduction to the Theater," hits stores Oct. 14.

Schumacher — the Tony-winning producer of Disney's The Lion King, Aida, Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid — offers an updated version of the 2007 tome that now includes the Broadway debut of Disney's The Little Mermaid and the national tour of High School Musical.

Co-authored with Jeff Kurtti, "How Does The Show Go On?" gives young readers insight into the world of theatre, including a glossary of theatre terms, costume designer's sketchbook, an authentic Playbill® program and a front- and back-of-house guide, as well as the experience of a day in the life of a child performer.

The book, press materials state, "is a totally unique guide to what goes on behind the curtain. From informative descriptions of the playwright, choreographer, stage manager and fight director to explanations about the role of the set designer, composer, usher, director and leading lady, Schumacher has created a stimulating, interactive and all together indispensable introduction to the theatre."

The 128-page hardcover book is available from Disney Publishing World Wide. Visit www.howdoestheshowgoon.com for further information.
