Hernandez, Evens and Mulay Will Join Steggert, Denman and Anderson for Yank! Readings

By Andrew Gans
04 Nov 2008

Casting is now complete for the upcoming readings of the new musical Yank!

Part of the York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series, the Nov. 10 readings (at 3 and 7:30 PM) will be held at the company's Off-Broadway home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's. Igor Goldin directs.

The cast will be led by the previously announced Bobby Steggert as Stu, Jeffry Denman as Artie, Nancy Anderson as Woman, Tally Sessions as Czechowski, Tyson Kaup as Tennessee, Daniel Shevlin as Professor, Chris Carfizzi as Rotelli and James Patterson as Sarge.

Newcomers to the company include Ivan Hernandez as Mitch, Leo Ash Evens as Gone With The Wind Girl and Brian Mulay as Gone With The Wind Girl.

Yank, which features music by Joseph Zellnik and book and lyrics by David Zellnik, takes its title from the World War II publication Yank Magazine. The musical is described as such: "Yank! — set in World War II — explores some of the behind-the-battlefield stories that don't make it into the history books. This bold new musical examines what it means to be a man — and what it is to fall in love and struggle to survive in a time and place where the odds are stacked against you."

Yank! was previously seen as part of the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival and was produced by the Gallery Players in Brooklyn in 2007.

The readings will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Although the readings are free, reservations are required by emailing Jeff Landsman at Jlandsman@yorktheatre.org (include name, phone number, the show's title and the number of tickets) or by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
