Keifer Sutherland heads the cast of the FOX series, which debuts its seventh season with a four-hour event, the network announced. The show will play 8-10 PM (ET/PT) over the two evenings.
"Set in Washington, D.C., 'Day Seven' opens with CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer (Sutherland) on trial," a Fox synopsis reveals. "Bauer's day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) returns after being presumed dead."
Jones (Doubt) will play the role of President Allison Taylor. Fellow stage veterans Colm Feore (Julius Caesar) will play First Gentleman Henry Taylor, and Bob Gunton (Evita) will be White House Chief of Staff Ethan Kanin when the seventh seven begins. Also slated to return to the series are Carlos Bernard, Mary Lynn Rajskub and James Morrison with a slew of new cast members including Janeane Garofalo, Annie Wersching, Jeffrey Nordling, John Billingsley and Rhys Coiro (currently seen Off-Broadway in Boys' Life).
The TV series follows one (rather eventful) day (the title referring to 24 hours) in the life of federal agent Jack Bauer (Sutherland). Each of the 24 continuous weekly episodes in a season shows what unfolds in one, real-time hour. A ticking clock occasionally appears, fueling the show's signature intensity.
